Center of the international drone community
In two months RAI Amsterdam will once again be the center of the international drone community for three days. During the fourth edition of Amsterdam Drone Week: ADW Hybrid, from 18 to 20 January 2022 - there will be an extensive programme and matchmaking facilities. ADW Hybrid will bring all key players, big and small, commercial and non-commercial, from various industries, knowledge institutes and authorities, together to co-create and co-operate. Adding value to society with urban air mobility.
During ADW Hybrid the UAM community gathers again to share knowledge on current air solutions, potential innovations and vital regulations. For the first time Amsterdam Drone Week will be a hybrid event, meaning live and online accessible. Matchmaking will also be accessible live and online. The ADW Mainstage, ADW Conference, ADW Industry sessions powered by CUAV and the HLC on Drones will be livestreamed for online delegates.
Although the official program starts on Tuesday 18 January, ADW Hybrid will kick off on Monday 17 January with a U-Space Demonstrator Network Meeting and the famous ADW High-level Dinner. Both can be visited by invitation only.
Official opening & Cities and regions: Tuesday 18 January
The official opening of the three-day conference will take place on Tuesday, January 18 at 9.30 CEST Patrick Ky, Executive Director EASA, and Paul Riemens, CEO RAI Amsterdam, will give a keynote speech and participate in a panel discussion with a variety of international guests. It is also the kick-off of the EASA High Level Conference on Drones, which will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Later Tuesday morning, the Global Cities and Region Coalition by the World Economic Forum (WEF) will be announced: a far-reaching collaboration between the World Economic Forum, ADW and UIC2 EU Smart Cities Marketplace. Together, the three organizations want to help cities and regions worldwide to revamp drone regulations to promote innovation and safety at the same time.
In the afternoon the UIC2 EU Smart Cities Marketplace organizes its own UIC2 Forum, where the Sustainable Urban (Air) Mobility Plan (SUMP) is discussed with DG MOVE and several European cities. The CATS Global Council organises the first workshop on Future Skies 2045 during ADW Hybrid. This important and new initiative will be celebrated at the end of the first day during the reception powered by CATS and ADW.
Integrated skies & Technical workshops: Wednesday 19 January
The second day of ADW Hybrid starts with a panel consisting of mobile operators, air traffic managers and space agencies discussing Global Airspace Integration. Can that be done innovatively and fair? CANSO and GUTMA participate in this panel.
In the meantime EUROCONTROL will moderate a meeting about the funding of UAM, EASA organizes a number of technical workshops and various mobile operators represented by the GSMA address the question of what the aviation industry can learn from the mobile and automotive industry. In the afternoon we will discuss the Certification of UAM products, how to develop a harmonized and global approach? During the day several use cases will be presented in the ADW Xpert Theatre on subjects such as digital infrastructure, hydrogen & electrification and vertiports. In the evening ADW organizes the Amsterdam City Dinner together with the municipality of Amsterdam.
Mobility hubs & Dutch Day: Thursday 20 January
Thursday kicks off with a panel discussion between drone manufacturers, various European cities and aviation authorities about Autonomous Drone Networks, followed by a panel on Cyber Security & Counterdrone. EUROCONTROL will moderate a discussion on how to manage the risks of UAM on the ground.
The Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management is organizing a special Hollandse Dag (Dutch Day) for Dutch-speaking visitors at ADW Hybrid, which specifically discusses the opportunities and challenges for the rapidly growing Dutch drone community.
Cooperation
As in previous years, Amsterdam Drone Week works closely with mobile operators, GSMA, air traffic managers CANSO and GUTMA, the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA), the European Commission, European cities, united in EU UAM Initiative Cities Community (UIC2), the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, authorities and space agencies such as EASA, CAAS, FAA, NASA and NLR. And for the first time this year, the World Economic Forum (WEF) the is joining the conversation.
