"The cross-border region of Euregio joins the Urban Air Mobility (UAM) Initiative, to foster the effectiveness of its emergency services for public safety."
Connecting cities
The "Urban Air Mobility" (UAM) Initiative of the European Innovation Partnership on Smart Cities and Communities (EIP-SCC), supported by the European Commission, wants to connect cities, citizens, businesses, and other stakeholders, to join forces to work more efficiently. The Euregio, which includes the cities of Enschede (the Netherlands) and Munster (Germany), will become the first cross-border UAM initiative demonstration project.
Developing urban air mobility solutions
UAM is being led by Airbus, who are collaborating together with partners, such as Eurocontrol and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The target is to develop urban air mobility solutions for cities which have specific mobility needs. Since the technology is being developed at a rapid rate, some applications, such as transporting wounded persons by drones, will allow first responders to respond faster, at a lower cost, and with less noise disturbance.
An official Kick-Off Workshop will be organised on 15 October 2018.
